Solid Oaks
The 'Solid Oaks' coterie group was formed in 2009, with membership comprising of parents, past & present players, business identities, corporate executives, entrepreneurs and notable supporters who share a passion for Oakleigh and support the Club on match days and at various events held throughout the year.
A family orientated group, Solid Oaks members are encouraged to bring their partners and children to cricket matches and events involving the whole family in the Club. Solid Oaks members are also invited to attend official Oakleigh Cricket Club functions (subject to availability), which provide you with an ideal opportunity to mix with other loyal and passionate Oakleigh supporters. These functions celebrate the Club’s success in a social atmosphere, and are attended by a variety of past and present players, coaches, Club officials and special guests.
The group is a separate identity to the cricket club. The coterie group will meet at regular intervals throughout the year or by special request from the OCC Board of Management at the Val Holten Social Rooms reserve for a short formal meeting followed by refreshments.
Statement of Purpose
The Solid Oaks aim to donate or raise funds for items of equipment, facilities and services through fundraising activities. Some examples of desired donations include trophies for presentation nights, trophy cabinets, cricket gear, new cricket nets, a new scoreboard, clubroom furniture and finishing’s, pitch covers and extension of the clubrooms.
Fundraisers may include Golf Days, Lawn Bowls tournaments, a Melbourne Cup Calcutta, Race Days, Corporate Lunches, Past Player Reunions, Merchandise Sales, the attraction and recruitment of new club sponsors and an annual raffle. The Coterie group will look to facilitate a sportsman night to potentially become a permanent fixture in the club’s social calendar in the near future.
Although the Coterie group's primary mission is dedicated to the betterment and growth of the Oakleigh Cricket Club, the group has indicated its agenda to assist local charities, organisations and persons within the wider Oakleigh community when the means and needs arise.
